What changes at this age
A few things are worth thinking about differently once a bed is being bought for a teenager rather than a younger child:
- Study space matters more. A highsleeper or gaming bed that frees up a proper desk area underneath tends to get more use as homework and revision increase.
- Weight limits become relevant. A growing teenager is heavier than the younger children some raised beds are designed around — check the manufacturer's maximum user weight on the product page, particularly for the top bunk of a bunk bed or the sleeping platform of a highsleeper.
