Playhouse single beds

A house-shaped frame around a standard single mattress — popular for younger children moving into their first proper bed, without the raised platform of a mid sleeper.

Day beds with a trundle

A single bed by day, with a second pull-out bed hidden underneath for sleepovers or a sibling staying over — without needing a second bed frame taking up space the rest of the time.

Stacking beds

A clever alternative to a bunk bed — two single beds that stack directly on top of each other for everyday use, then separate into two freestanding beds when needed, without the fixed structure of a permanent bunk.

Sizes and mattresses

Most single beds take a standard 90 x 190cm UK single mattress. If your child has outgrown junior sizing, this is the size to move up to; our Junior & Toddler Beds use a shorter 160cm mattress instead.

Single beds: common questions

What's the difference between a playhouse bed and a mid sleeper?

A playhouse bed sits at normal single-bed height with a decorative frame around it — there's no ladder or raised platform, so it suits younger children not yet ready for a mid sleeper.

How does a stacking bed differ from a bunk bed?

A stacking bed sits on top of the lower bed rather than being fixed to a shared frame, so the two beds can be separated into freestanding singles at any time, not just permanently converted.

What size mattress does a single bed need?

A standard UK single at 90 x 190cm, unless the product page states otherwise.

If floor space is tight, take a look at our Beds with Sleepover Beds or Beds with Storage, and for younger children see our Junior & Toddler Beds.
