Double or small double?
A UK double mattress measures 135 x 190cm, while a small double (also called a "four-foot" bed) measures 120 x 190cm — 25cm narrower, which can be the difference between fitting comfortably in a teenager's room and overwhelming it. Measure the room width before choosing, allowing space to walk around the bed and open any wardrobe or drawers nearby.
