Captains Beds

A captain's bed is a raised single bed built over its own storage — usually a bank of drawers, a cupboard, or a pull-out desk tucked underneath the sleeping platform. It's one of the most space-efficient ways to furnish a child's bedroom, giving you a full-size single bed, dedicated storage and often a study area, all within the footprint of a standard bed.

Our captain's beds come from Kids Avenue's Estella, Heritage and Urban ranges, with options including storage drawers, a cupboard, open shelving and a pull-out desk — some designs let you choose which side the desk or drawers sit on, so the bed can be positioned to suit the room. Because the sleeping platform sits lower than a high sleeper loft bed, a captain's bed is a good stepping stone between a low bed and a full high sleeper as children get a little older.
