Buy Now, Pay Later for Kids' Beds & Bunk Beds: How It Works
Buying a bunk bed, high sleeper or new kids' bed is a bigger purchase than most household shopping, so it's no surprise more parents are asking whether they can spread the cost. "Buy now, pay later" has grown quickly in the UK — Klarna itself reports that BNPL usage among UK adults jumped from 14% to 25% in a single year. This guide explains how buy now, pay later and extended credit actually work when you're buying a bed at Family Window, so you can decide if it's right for you.
What Is Buy Now, Pay Later?
Buy now, pay later (BNPL) lets you take your bed home — or have it delivered — without paying the full price upfront. Instead, the cost is either delayed to a later date or split into smaller instalments. It's different from a traditional loan: there's usually no separate application, no credit check paperwork to fill in, and a decision is given instantly at checkout.
At Family Window, we offer two ways to do this: Klarna and PayPal's extended credit options. Both let you delay payment or pay in instalments on beds and bedroom furniture.
How Buy Now, Pay Later Works on a Bunk Bed or Kids' Bed
Klarna: Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 Days
For orders up to £1,000 — which covers most single bunk beds, midsleepers and high sleepers — Klarna lets you pay in 3 equal instalments, with the first taken straight away and the remaining two on day 30 and day 60. For orders over £1,000, such as a high sleeper with a sofa bed and desk, you can delay the entire payment for 30 days instead.
PayPal: Pay in 3 or PayPal Credit
PayPal offers a similar Pay in 3 option on purchases up to £2,000, interest-free, split the same way as Klarna. Alternatively, you can open a PayPal Credit account for 4 months interest-free credit, which can also be used again on future purchases.
Choosing either option works exactly the same way as paying by card — just select Klarna or PayPal at checkout. There's no need to apply in advance or contact us first. Full step-by-step details are on our Finance page.
Is Buy Now, Pay Later Worth It for a Bed?
For a bigger purchase like a bunk bed or high sleeper — especially if you're also budgeting for a mattress, home assembly or other bedroom furniture at the same time — spreading the cost over a few weeks can make the timing easier to manage. It's a genuinely useful option for many families, which is why we offer it alongside standard card payment.
That said, Klarna's Pay in 3 and Pay in 30 days are unregulated credit agreements. As with any form of credit, only commit to payments you're confident you can meet, and be aware that late payments can affect your ability to get credit in future. We're not able to offer personal financial advice, so if you're unsure whether BNPL is the right choice for your circumstances, Klarna's and PayPal's own terms and conditions have full details, or you may wish to speak to an independent financial adviser.
